7 times World Record holder and found of charity Speed Of Sight, Mike Newman first satisfied his need for speed in 2001 when he rode an Aprilla Falco 1000cc V twin motorbike and reached 89mph after only 3 days practice. This was only the beginning; the next step in Mike’s adventure was to conquer four wheels, which he did in 2003.
Mike’s tally of records is truly unmatched by any other blindfolded or blind driver having now amassed an impressive 8 world records - 6 land speed records, 1 water speed record and 1 aerobatic record.
He is now the only blind driver to set a world record for driving a car solo at over 200mph.
October 2015 Mike broke the blind world land speed record driving a 5.5 tonne race truck at 100mph+.

Mike Newman has held three land speed records since August 2001 when he broke the World blind land speed record driving a motorcycle at an astonishing 89 mph.
Mike drove a supercharged XJR Jaguar to 144 mph at Elvington Airfield, York. He did it to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind and Vision 2020.
Gained as part of a team record with The Blades Aerobatic Team in 2011, Mike achieved the World blind aerial aerobatic record; flying the most consecutive loops in formation.
In 2005 Mike once again broke his own record, set in 2003, when he drove a BMW M5 to a top speed of 178 mph and averaging a speed of 167 mph. It was filmed for Channel Five's Fifth Gear Programme.
